Newick House once again showed their unique singing skills in the recent House Singing Competition. After much deliberation and cogitation, we eventually decided to sing the M People classic, "Proud", made famous by being the signature tune of the Olympics coverage. Indeed, the House showed Olympian qualities in the way they attacked this song, exhibiting much energy and exuberance in their passion filled rendition.

Once again, the Newick House entry was entirely put together by the boys themselves. Overseen and conducted by Oliver Thornley, the song was accompanied by James Strutt and Jolyon Dunn on guitar, and by Piers Baillie on Bongos. Whilst other Houses included tuneful harmonies, the Newick House entry had some innovative acapella singing as well as tapping into the primitive rhythmic instincts that underpin our musical senses.

Unfortunately, once again, these unique qualities were not recognised by the adjudicator who did not place us in the top three. One day.....
