Skiing at Cheltenham College Junior School
Skiing is a very popular weekly activity with over 50 pupils each week travelling to Gloucester for lessons on the dry slope. This activity is open to pupils from Year 2 upwards and we cater for everyone from total beginners to those who race for the English children’s team. Qualified instructors teach the pupils both basic skills and race training, slalom techniques. Many pupils go on to join either Gloucester ski club or Slalom Plus and take part in the dry slope race league.
As a school we enter several regional and national competitions. Each year we enter at least four teams for the English Schools Ski Association race with many of the teams qualifying and winning at National levels. Individuals are often invited to take part in snow race training in Norway and Italy. We also run an annual ski trip to France for pupils from Year 4 upwards.
An excellent opportunity for pupils to both improve their ski technique and have a fantastic, fun and independence building experience without Mum and Dad!
