The last weekend of term proved to be a hugely varied one for the boys in Newick House. It started with some hard fought games on the Hockey pitch, followed by piling down to the TV room, to watch the England vs Ireland game, though the atmosphere was understandably not as euphoric as it has been for recent games.

Then Mrs Llewellyn, perhaps slightly fed up with the Celtic direction the evening was taking, decided to bring a bit of South African flavour to the House. Recently discovering the South African food shop in town, she bought a huge pile of boerewors* for the boys, which we grilled and ate with Mrs Ball's Chutney (the nearest South Africa gets to a delicacy?), followed by ice cream - everyone's favourite.
[* For the uninitiated, boerewors are farmers' sausages, made of whatever game happens to be on the farm. Looking like an enormous cumberland sausage, they are the staple diet of any red-blooded, braii- loving, Afrikaaner.]

Then on Sunday, rather oddly considering the beautiful weather, we took the boys to see 'Chalet Girl', the new 'snow-mantic comedy', written by a friend of Mr Llewellyn's, Tom Williams. A great film, full of funny lines and great snowscapes, thoroughly enjoyed by the boys and girls from Ashmead that came with us.
