Congratulations to two College Polo Teams who have stormed to victory in both division one and two of the National Intermediate Polo Arena Championships held at Rugby Polo Club in February. The mixed teams put in an outstanding effort, beating all 16 other teams who entered the competition (8 in each division) and being crowned National Champions.
17 year old Amelia Scott-Hopkins, expertly captained the Division 1 team of Maddy Meacher (17) and James Meyrick (17), through 5 matches against teams from Wellington, Rugby and finally Stowe to a convincing first place. In the division two team, Amber Ahluwalia (17), Charlie Dee (16) and Ollie Severn (13) beat off Wellington, Rugby, Stowe and Bradfield teams to take first place in the second division.
Polo continues to be a strength at College, with many pupils competing both locally and nationally in single sex and mixed teams. Earlier in the year the Girls' Team won the Senior School Girls National Polo Championships and this is the 6thyear that College Teams have been crowned National Champions.
Cheltenham College Polo Coach, Di Pagett, commented, "This is another excellent result for the Polo teams and a fine reward for their consistent commitment, passion and skill. They should feel very proud of themselves indeed."
