Tennis

Cheltenham College has four all weather courts to which pupils have access, not only as a main sport in the summer, but also in their free time. During the summer months, we also erect 12 more courts on one of our Astroturf pitches, so in total we can accommodate up to 200 tennis players. Many of these play tennis as their main sport.

There are inter-school matches on most Saturdays during the summer, plus many mid-week fixtures which together, allow most standards to experience competitive play. An Inter House Competition is also keenly contested in the summer term.

College enters the National Schools Competitions, the Glanvill Cup for boys and Aberdare for girls. These are played on a regional basis, the winners of each region qualifying for the finals, held at Queenswood in June. The Glanvill team, made up of four players has proudly represented College at these finals in the past four seasons, coming 10th in 2011.

At the end of the season, we also play in the Public Schools Championships held at Eton, where the boys reached the last 16 of the Youll Cup in 2011.

Finally, College also runs a tennis club, open to the local community.
