Year 5 Wartime Cookery.
This Saturday, Year 5 went back in time to 1939. Armed with a fistful of authentic recipes, the children prepared WWII meals. Our menu included dishes such as Victory Salad, Economical Eve’s Pudding, Lord Woolton’s Pie and Straight From the Garden soup.
After selecting, slicing, mixing and cooking, we all sat down to eat the fruits of our labour. Preet commented,
“It was good but a bit disgusting.”
But according to Beth J.,
“Some foods were unexpectedly delicious.”
The morning was a success thanks to Mr. Maddock’s guidance, his impressive knowledge on WWII and the support of many Year 5 parents. Mrs Hewin concluded,
“What a wonderful way to make WWII come alive”
