The most common Sunday evening conversation in the Boarding House always begins with “Why do the weekends go so quickly?”
One of the main attractions for both parents and boarders is that our House is full every weekend. There are a whole range of activities on offer and each term the boarders sit down to choose the activities they would like for the following term.
Each weekend groups can be seen rock climbing, horse riding and mountain biking off site, while others prefer to stay closer to home rowing the paddle boats on the lake, swimming, cooking or riding on go-carts. We also have an annual whole Boarding House trip to the Everyman Theatre at Christmas for the pantomime and an annual trip to a theme park at the start of the school year.
One of the great attractions of boarding life is the CDT room. Mr Baker’s workshop serves many purposes, from a social club with tea and biscuits after school to HQ during Sunday afternoons. This is when pupils can be seen repairing bikes, building models, rewiring video recorders, flying helicopters and soldering electrical circuits - some even stay to tidy up at the end!
