A beautiful autumn morning and a coach full of excited but nervous girls were all the necessary ingredients for a great morning of hockey. The girls played in 3 teams, Team Coley, Team Lunniss and Team Upton based on their form groups (thanks to Lily Powell for representing 3S) and each played 5 matches with a mixture of results.
Team Lunniss won 1, drew 1, lost 3 with Dorothea Peterken named as player of the tournament for her excellent work in defence.
In Team Upton, Hettie Morris was player of the tournament for being solid in defence and clearing the ball out of trouble and into a space, only losing 1 game and drawing the other 4 matches.
Team Coley won 2, lost 2, drew 1. After a tentative start they eventually found their form, remembered to move into spaces in attack and to defend with their sticks low to the ground and Gabby Bifulco was player of the tournament for her determination and application of skills.
The difference in all girls from start to finish was amazing! They all grew in confidence and were beginning to show a much greater awareness of both attacking and defence tactics. A fun and well organised tournament that allowed the girls to just play lots of hockey, well done everyone!!
