Year 3/4 Enrichment Programme

Tastery, Textiles and Technology!

While the year 4 girls appear to be taking over the CDT room in pursuit of perfection in the construction and decoration of their pencil boxes, the boys are completely absorbed in the design and weaving of their fabric using looms that they also personally made. Once they have discovered how fabric is made they will have the opportunity to make natural dyes and print their own designs comparing the processes involved to those used in ancient times and in some countries today, such as India.

The Year 3's by contrast think it's party time, or 'Tastery' as one of the pupil's renamed the lesson. In 'Food' the children have tasted a range of sweet and savoury party foods to try and catergorise all different foods into groups. After a lesson on Bread, the group shared their opinions through a survey and the results showed that alongside Iced Buns, Chapatti was equally popular and that brown whole meal bread was definitely everyone's least favourite!
