How We Explore The World
Learning isn’t just about being in a classroom. Creative learning and real world experiences bring subjects to life and help your child to develop a deeper understanding and be more excited and engaged.
Our ability to give children experiences away from the core curriculum is one of our greatest strengths here in Kingfishers.
For example, new topics begin with a ‘Launch Day’, which is an entire day themed around the new topic where we encourage children to come to school dressed as a relevant character. These days are lots of fun and can lead to scenes such as our Head of Kingfishers, Mrs Buttress, having lunch sitting between Emmeline Pankhurst and Archimedes!
We also have a Forest School – an outdoor learning centre that is protected from the elements so it can be used in all weathers. Forest School provides children with small, achievable tasks including digging pits, searching for mini beasts, creating shelters for animals and working with natural materials all under the close supervision of our qualified Forest School Leader. These experiences encourage your child to develop skills such as decision making, team work and problem-solving in a real-life environment. They also enjoy hot chocolate around the camp fire!
