Physics Teacher
The appointment
For September 2025, Cheltenham College’s STEM Faculty seeks to appoint a Physics Teacher. This is a role that would equally suit an experienced teacher looking for a new role or an ECT who is beginning their teaching journey.
We would also consider a recent Physics graduate who is keen to pursue a career in teaching.
The department
At Cheltenham College, pupils studying GCSE and A Level Physics have the opportunity to discover and explore the building blocks of the universe in state-of-the-art facilities taught by specialist subject teachers. All pupils take their Physics lessons in one of our five recently renovated, well-equipped university standard laboratories.
The Physics Department is forward-looking and dynamic with an excellent academic record over many years. The successful candidate will be able to stretch the highest attaining pupils, (including to Oxbridge level), whilst also being able to use a range of strategies to teach across the ability range.
It is the mission of the Science Department to ensure that pupils gain the depth of knowledge required to understand science in the real world. We do this by developing the range of skills essential for scientific thinking and the personal qualities needed to build resilient learners and excellent scientists. Pupils are encouraged to enter national competitions, read extensively and the department arranges trips to conferences to expose them to cutting edge scientific developments and research.
The candidate /personal attributes
- In order to be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and attributes:
- Ability to teach their subject across the age and ability range in ways that engage pupil interest and curiosity
- A desire to keep learning and reflecting on their own areas of potential personal/professional development
