For September 2025, Cheltenham College Prep School seeks a part-time Matron (Boarding House Pastoral Assistant) to join its close-knit pastoral boarding team, reporting to the House Parents.

The Prep’s boarding house offers outstanding pastoral care to boarders on a full-time and flexible basis, 7 days a week.

In conjunction with the House Parents, the Matron is responsible for the care, supervision, cleanliness and presentation of pupils.

Applicants should be organised, with a flexible and willing attitude, a sunny disposition, excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for dealing with young people in a close environment.

The House is located at the heart of the school and combines the very best of traditional boarding with the latest approaches to flexibility and an exciting and vibrant after-school activities programme. Boarding at the Prep contributes greatly to the sense of belonging and homeliness, which runs all the way through our community.

This is a term-time only role (33 weeks per annum).

Shift pattern: Alternating between 15 hours and 15 minutes to 21 hours per week depending on Saturdays as below.

  • Mondays: 07.00 to 12.45 and 18.00 to 21.45
  • Tuesdays: 07.00 to 12.45
  • Approximately 11 Saturdays per year:  07.00 to 12.45
  • Plus mandatory INSET and staff training days (5 per year)

Pro rata salary (0.33 FTE): £8,318.00, based on a full time/full year equivalent of £25,662.00 and an underlying hourly rate of £13.16 per hour
