Cheltenham College Excels at Rosslyn Park Sevens

All three teams reach knockout stages at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens

Cheltenham College enjoyed a successful tournament at this year’s Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, with all three age groups progressing to the cup knockout stages.

As one of the largest school rugby tournaments in the country, Rosslyn Park provides a significant challenge, and the pupils rose to the occasion with determination and commitment throughout.

The U14s entered the tournament in good form and performed consistently across both days. After navigating a competitive group, they produced some excellent rugby to progress through to the latter stages, eventually reaching the semi-finals before coming up against strong opposition.

The U16s also built on their positive season, delivering a series of composed performances. They advanced confidently through day one and secured a place in the quarter-finals for the first time in over a decade. A closely contested match against Brighton College brought their run to an end, following a spirited performance.

The U18s, who have enjoyed a strong season, approached the competition with confidence and delivered some impressive results, including a notable win against Millfield. Progressing to day two, they competed in a challenging group and ultimately finished within the top 10 in a highly competitive field.

It was particularly encouraging to see all three teams reach the knockout stages, reflecting the continued development of rugby at Cheltenham College. The tournament also highlighted the pupils’ teamwork, resilience and enjoyment of the game.

Across the season, the three teams have collectively played 57 matches, with just seven losses, demonstrating a consistent level of performance and commitment.
