One Year GCSE Programme

For 15-17 year olds

Cheltenham College’s One-Year GCSE Programme is designed for motivated pupils who wish to strengthen their academic profile before progressing to Sixth Form. As full members of the College community, pupils benefit from expert teaching, exceptional pastoral care and a rich co-curricular programme.

The course combines core GCSE qualifications with enrichment, independent study and wellbeing support, ensuring pupils leave prepared for their next stage of education.

Native Language Qualifications

Native German speakers may opt to study German First Language IGCSE, which includes four taught lessons per week.

Native speakers of other languages may be entered for an appropriate GCSE or IGCSE qualification, which typically requires no additional taught lessons.

Progression & Next Steps

The One-Year GCSE Programme is designed as a springboard to Sixth Form study at Cheltenham College.

With over 300 pupils in the Sixth Form, students can progress to a wide range of pathways, including:

  • BTEC Qualifications
  • CTech Qualifications
  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
