Sixth Form

Cheltenham College Sixth Form is a vibrant, ambitious community of over 300 boarding and day pupils aged 16–18.

Pupils join from our Lower College (Years 9–11) and a wide range of other schools, and are supported throughout to achieve their potential and prepare confidently for life beyond school.

Academic Pathways & Curriculum

Most pupils study three or four subjects, choosing from around 30 qualifications, including A Levels, BTECs and C-Techs. With small class sizes and dedicated academic tutors, pupils are encouraged to deepen their interests or explore new subjects such as History of Art, Business, Economics, Politics and Psychology.

All pupils also complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), developing valuable independent research and project management skills in preparation for university and the workplace.

For full details of subjects and course content, please see our Upper College Curriculum Guide below:

Programmes include the Mini-MBA, MDV, Community Action placements and the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, alongside extensive opportunities in sport, music, drama and the creative arts.

Leadership is central to Sixth Form life, with roles such as Prefects, Academic, Sports and CCF Leaders, as well as opportunities to take part in academic competitions and major school productions.

Preparing for the Future

Pupils progress to a wide range of higher education courses in the UK and overseas, including competitive pathways such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.
