Pastoral Care

A resilient, confident and happy child is a child who is free to focus on their learning and development. From the moment your child joins The Prep, everyone is dedicated to ensuring they thrive.

This starts with our partnership with you. We will develop a positive and proactive relationship with you that is based on regular contact and the sharing of information.

Children learn in small classes and have daily contact with their Form Teacher. It means we can really get to know the child, their talents, interests and ambitions. It also means children will always feel supported academically and pastorally in whatever they want to achieve.

We foster a growth mindset and an inquisitive attitude both inside and outside of the classroom. Our aim is to create an atmosphere in which the children learn how to get the best out of themselves and is unafraid to take risks and make mistakes. This is an integral part of each child’s healthy development.

“Heaps of pastoral leads, matrons, house staff and two trained counsellors across two schools” Good Schools Guide, 2023

Pupils know how and where to seek help if they are worried or anxious. This was strongly emphasised by pupils' discussion, who spoke with enthusiasm and how well they are supported and advised by the school and their teachers.
