Cheltenham College and Rugby stars join together to raise money for The Pied Piper Appeal

Cheltenham College, supported by former pupils and Gloucester Rugby stars, are raising money for The Pied Piper Appeal. The Pied Piper Appeal is one of Cheltenham College’s chosen charities for the academic year, and supports sick and disabled children throughout Gloucestershire.

Current Gloucester players and former pupils, Ollie Thorley, Louis Hillman-Cooper, Jack Clement, Tom Stanton and Sebastian Blake have all signed their one of a kind custom seat covers, which will be raffled off for The Pied Piper at the end of the 2021/2022 season. The seat covers are replicas of each of the star’s Cheltenham College Rugby shirts. The covers will be on display at the Kingsholm at home matches this season, marking out the spaces reserved for the family of each matchday mascot.

The connection between Cheltenham College and Gloucester Rugby is a long-standing tradition with several College pupils in the pathway from the Developing Player Programme [pre-academy] right the way through to the Under 18s and first team.

Mr Olly Morgan, Director of Rugby at Cheltenham College and former Gloucester and England Rugby player, commented “Cheltenham College are proud to have a long-standing relationship with Gloucester Rugby. This was recently highlighted in our annual Charity game that was played at Kingsholm in front of the whole school which raised funds for the Pied Piper Appeal and was a fantastic spectacle. The pathway continues to grow every year with now 6 Old Cheltonian’s involved in the Gloucester senior set up all of whom have been through Cheltenham College from a young age. The program we aim to deliver is both engaging and challenging which endeavours to aid their transition seamlessly into a professional environment or University. We hope that this success paves the way for many more to follow the likes of Ollie, Jack and Louis.”
