Cheltenham Muscat Announces New Principal

Dr Daniel Doyle will join Cheltenham Muscat as Principal in January 2027, following the departure of Mr Richard Snape at the end of Term 1.

Cheltenham Muscat has announced a significant leadership transition as Principal Mr Richard Snape prepares to leave the school at the end of Term 1 to become the Founding Principal of a new school in Asia.

Since joining in 2024, the impact of Mr Snape’s leadership has been felt across all aspects of school life. He has led the school with dedication and care, strengthening its provision and supporting our pupils, colleagues and families.

Reflecting on his time at Cheltenham Muscat, Mr Snape said:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time leading Cheltenham Muscat. I am hugely proud of what we have achieved together over the last two and a half years, from the exceptional provision we have developed in kindergarten to the excellent performance of our first graduating students. I would like to thank each and every member of our community for the support you have shown to me and my family, and continue to show to the school as it grows.”

The school is delighted to announce that Dr Daniel Doyle will join as Principal in January 2027.

Dr Doyle brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across British and international education, including the Middle East, with a strong record of raising academic standards and broadening opportunities for pupils.

His approach combines academic ambition with a commitment to developing young people’s character and confidence. He looks forward to building on Cheltenham Muscat’s strengths and getting to know our community.

Speaking about his appointment, Dr Doyle said:

“I am not moving to Oman simply to lead another school. My family and I are making Oman our home because I believe there is an extraordinary opportunity at Cheltenham Muscat. I will arrive ready to listen and learn, but also with considerable ambition: to build confidently on the school’s strengths, drive standards even higher and expand the opportunities available to every pupil.”

To ensure a smooth transition, Mr Snape and Ms Sahra Al Sabti will work closely with Dr Doyle throughout the remainder of the term, supported by the school’s leadership team and Cognita. Dr Doyle will visit Cheltenham Muscat from 2-5 November to meet pupils, staff and parents and begin getting to know the school community.

As Cheltenham Muscat looks to the future, the school extends its sincere thanks to Mr Snape for his leadership and contribution, while warmly welcoming Dr Doyle as he prepares to lead the next chapter in the school’s journey.
