Fashion and Textile Pupils Gain Industry Insight in London

Pupils explored House of CB and the Schiaparelli exhibition during their Futures Week Department Day.

As part of Futures Week, pupils from the Fashion and Textile Department enjoyed an inspiring day in London, gaining first-hand insight into the fashion industry and exploring world-renowned design.

The day began on Oxford Street with an exclusive visit to the House of CB head office. Pupils were given a tour of both the office and retail space, learning more about the brand’s bestselling collections and the work that goes on behind the scenes.

The team at House of CB guided the pupils through every stage of the fashion design process, from researching inspiration and selecting fabrics to designing, fitting and bringing garments to market. Students also took part in a practical design workshop, developing their own fashion concepts through both hand sketching and digital illustration using Procreate.

The group’s second stop was the Victoria and Albert Museum, where they visited the acclaimed Schiaparelli exhibition. Showcasing extraordinary haute couture garments, the exhibition highlighted exceptional creativity, craftsmanship and technical innovation, offering students a wealth of inspiration for their own coursework projects.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with industry practice while broadening their understanding of fashion design and creative careers.
