Lower Sixth Geography Fieldwork Trip
Lower Sixth Geographers Complete Final A Level Field Trip at Nettlecombe Court, Somerset
The Lower Sixth A Level Geography students concluded their academic year with an inspiring four-day field trip to Nettlecombe Court Field Studies Centre in Somerset. This final excursion of the year saw students design, plan, and conduct data collection for a range of independent investigations.
Projects included examining whether physical or human factors have the greatest influence on the coastal system in Porlock Bay, assessing tree species best suited to support the UK’s carbon net-zero targets by 2050, and evaluating the success of recent redevelopment projects in Taunton.
Despite occasional rain, the trip was a resounding success, with students gaining valuable fieldwork skills and hands-on experience crucial for their A Level Geography coursework. The visit to Nettlecombe Court not only enriched their understanding of geographical processes but also fostered teamwork, analytical thinking, and a passion for environmental study.
