College pupils consistently secure places at leading universities, including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, King’s College London, University of Bristol, and University of Manchester. In recent years, successful Oxbridge applicants have undertaken independent research projects of publishable quality, with a number of pupils authoring peer-reviewed scientific papers. This culture of scholarship reflects the strength of the scientific method and academic foundations instilled at Cheltenham College.
The Biology course itself is a demanding two-year journey that builds deep conceptual understanding and technical competence. In the Lower Sixth, pupils establish a strong grounding in core topics such as cell biology, biological molecules, immunology, biodiversity, and evolution. As they progress, the curriculum expands into advanced biochemistry and the sophisticated regulation of the human body through neural and hormonal systems.
