Stand-out & Outstanding – Cambridge Chemistry Challenge

At College, staff continuously strive to put forward academic opportunities to stretch and challenge our pupils.

The Cambridge Chemistry Challenge is a particularly robust competition aimed at Year 12 pupils and created and awarded by the University of Cambridge. It is set by an experienced team of teachers and university chemists, and it is designed to be accessible to Year 12 students but will take them significantly beyond the syllabus and encourage them to think about science in the way they would at university.

13 pupils took the Challenge in the summer term of last academic year and all were awarded either a ‘Copper’ or a ‘Silver’ Award for their work in the competition. Of special note, are the two pupils who were only in the Fourth Form when they dud the Challenge and achieved a Copper Award.
