Textiles Trip to London

Pupils explored contemporary textile art and historic costume design during a visit to two of London’s leading cultural venues.

Textiles pupils enjoyed an inspiring trip to London, visiting the Saatchi Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum to explore creativity, craftsmanship and design.

The day began at the Saatchi Gallery, where pupils explored the Textile Art Redefined exhibition. Featuring contemporary textile works in a variety of styles and mediums, the exhibition provided plenty of inspiration for sketchbooks and coursework, encouraging pupils to consider themes of identity, colour and artistic expression.

In the afternoon, the group visited the Victoria & Albert Museum, focusing on its extensive costume collections. From beautifully embroidered garments to expertly tailored theatrical costumes, pupils discovered how textiles and fashion have brought stories and characters to life throughout history.

The visit offered valuable inspiration and a deeper appreciation of textile art, costume design and the many creative possibilities within the subject.
