Cheltenham College Listed in Top 100 Schools for Cricket

Cheltenham College are pleased to share that we have been listed as one of the Top 100 schools for cricket by The Cricketer Schools Guide 2024.  

 

The Cricketer was founded in 1921 by former England captain, Sir Pelham Warner and is the sport’s oldest and best-selling magazine. The listing includes both private and state schools in the top 100, picked out by The Cricketer’s judging panel after a thorough selection process and further analysed against an extensive set of criteria including; commitment to cricket in the curriculum, cricket facilities, coaching and fixtures.

Cheltenham College is one of the strongest schools nationally in a wide cross-section of sports and benefits from top-level sports professionals and coaches. Cricket coaches at Cheltenham College include; Cricket Professional Mark Briers (formerly a professional player at Worcestershire CCC and Durham CCC) and Jamie Diamond (Gloucestershire CCC Performance Coach). Cheltenham College has fantastic grounds for cricket, with the 1st XI square known as one of the best cricket pitches in the country. Home to The Cheltenham Cricket Festival each year since 1872, with Gloucestershire CCC playing in the four-day format and T20 Cricket.
