Cheltenham Prep Prepare for Performance of ‘Oliver!’
Mark Lester, former child actor who played the title role in the award winning 1968 musical film Oliver!, visited Cheltenham Prep on Friday 14 March to watch the Upper School production of Oliver!
The production involves a cast of talented young performers from Years 7 and 8, who are looking forward to bringing their production to the stage this March. Mr Kimball, Drama and LAMDA teacher at Cheltenham Prep said;
“We have enjoyed the unique honour to host Mark Lester for a meet-and-greet with our Upper School Oliver! cast. Mark played the seminal role back in the 1968 film musical, and was excited to meet our young performers, just a week away from our own production of Lionel Bart’s classic. The most excited performer in the cast was our own Oliver, who even costumed-up to have a photograph with his cinema counterpart; truly a tale of two Olivers!”
Whether it is taking part in a Drama production, SFX workshop or Hockey competition, there is an activity for each child to flourish and find their true passions at Cheltenham Prep. There are numerous dramatic productions across the school year; with a well-used motto of the school being “if you want to take part, you’re in!”. The school focus on the experience and participation; with the aim to light up a child’s confidence and interest in their formative school years and see that child flourish in areas that they did not consider to be strengths as they move through to the next stage of their education.
