School Receptionist (Term Time)
For November/December 2026, Cheltenham Prep is seeking a warm, welcoming and highly organised Afternoon Receptionist to join our friendly administrative team.
As the first point of contact for pupils, families, visitors and colleagues, you will play an important role in creating a positive and lasting impression of The Prep. With a friendly and professional approach, you will ensure that everyone who contacts or visits the school feels welcome and that enquiries are handled efficiently, courteously and with care.
Working as part of the Prep Admin Office team, you will combine front-of-house responsibilities with a variety of administrative tasks that help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school. From welcoming visitors and answering telephone calls to supporting pupil registration, managing room bookings and assisting with general office administration, no two days will be quite the same.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and a proactive, flexible approach. You will be confident managing competing priorities in a busy environment, comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and committed to providing an excellent standard of customer service. Previous reception or administrative experience is essential, as is an understanding of the importance of safeguarding in a school environment.
Above all, you will be approachable, discreet and professional, with a genuine enjoyment of working with people and contributing to a welcoming school community. You will work closely with a fellow Receptionist to ensure consistent reception cover and provide flexible support to the wider administrative team when needed.
