Higher Education & Careers
Your time at Sixth Form is your stepping stone to Higher Education and your future career. As well as supporting your academic development, we also support you in achieving your aspirations, whatever they may be.
If you are already a student at College then your thoughts about Higher Education and future directions will have been shaped by the career talks and exploratory discussions and profiling that took place in Lower College. In Upper College, we will encourage you to become more focused. Regular one-to-one sessions, fairs, specialist events and opportunities to hear external speakers will all help in this process.
The cornerstones of our Higher Education and Career s guidance are the expertise of our staff and our Higher Education and Careers library. Our staff are always happy to discuss your future direction, including career ideas and career planning. Our Higher Education and Careers library is a valuable source of information whether you are considering a gap year, researching degree courses, exploring universities and institutes in the UK or abroad, seeking work experience or looking at alternatives to Higher Education such as apprenticeships or specialist colleges.

Applications to most universities follow a standard procedure and we provide full support to every student throughout the process. At the same time, we recognise that some application processes follow a different route or have more demanding requirements. If you are thinking of Oxford or Cambridge, we provide specialist support. We also provide tailored support if you are considering applications to medical, dentistry and veterinary courses or are applying for an apprenticeship or degree apprenticeship.
We are proud that many of our students leave us to pursue academic success at Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities as well as many other universities in the UK and overseas. We also delight in hearing about the diverse, exciting and challenging careers that Old Cheltonians choose to pursue.
