Charity Netball Match 2025

College Netball Team Claims Victory in Thrilling Charity Match

On Tuesday 11 March Cheltenham College’s XII Netball team played Malvern College in the highly anticipated annual charity match, raising money for Gloucestershire Young Carers. The evening commenced with an energetic curtain-raiser, where the Prep U13a team secured a decisive win against Denmark Road, setting a vibrant tone for the event.

As the sports hall filled with enthusiastic supporters, the College team prepared for a challenging contest. Malvern College started strongly, but the Cheltenham College players quickly found their rhythm, leading to a closely contested match. A nail-biting second quarter saw Malvern briefly take the lead. Nevertheless, a determined Cheltenham side, fuelled by a strategic half-time talk, surged ahead in the third quarter.

The final quarter tested the team’s resilience. They maintained their composure to secure a 26-19 victory. A lively half-time charity shootout, involving pupils and staff from both schools, added to the evening’s excitement.

The event, paired with the Charity Rugby Match and the Charity Fun Run, helped us bring our total for Gloucestershire Young Carers to £20,000. Which will support their vital work in providing essential services to young carers throughout Gloucestershire. The evening concluded with the presentation of the trophy and cheque, celebrating the team’s victory and the community’s generous support.
