Teacher of Mathematics
The Appointment
For September 2026, Cheltenham College seeks to appoint a full-time Teacher of Mathematics. We are looking for somebody who possess the ability to engender subject passion whilst teaching Mathematics across the full attainment and age ranges in a highly successful and popular department. At College, A Level Mathematics is a popular option, and the department’s results are consistently amongst the strongest.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Mathematics teacher who is able to teach their subject to A Level.
The post would suit equally an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or a teacher beginning his or her career. The successful candidate will be able to stretch the highest attaining pupils whilst also being able to use adaptive strategies to teach across the ability range. The department will provide the requisite support for an ECT and College has its own comprehensive staff induction programme.
As well as offering opportunities for pupils to develop, the successful candidate will show an enthusiasm for their own professional development and will wish to contribute to College’s rich co-curricular programme.

The Department
The Mathematics Department is conveniently sited in at the heart of the College campus and is central to the academic life of College. It comprises eight full-time members of staff.
A Level Mathematics is a very popular option, and the department’s results are consistently amongst the strongest at College. Over 70% of pupils achieved an A* or A grade at A Level, with around 30% gaining the A*. Of these, about one quarter also pursue Further Mathematics A Level.
