HM Forces Families Only Pay 10% of Fees

A Home-from-Home for Armed Forces Children

From the moment pupils arrive at Cheltenham College, they are welcomed into a community that truly understands the rhythm of Armed Forces life. With boarding beginning in Year 3 at Cheltenham Prep and continuing all the way to Year 13, military families can enjoy the reassurance of one continuous, supportive journey — and, through the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA), HM Forces families pay just 10% of boarding fees.

Head of College, Nicola Huggett, said:

“With decades of experience working closely with Armed Forces families, we understand the realities of service life and are proud to provide stability and a home-from-home environment where military children feel safe, secure and happy.”

Boarding at College is a lively, welcoming community. Around 80% of our 730 pupils are full boarders, with an even mix of boys and girls aged 13–18. Pupils live in nine boarding Houses and two day Houses, each with its own character and traditions, creating a friendly village-like atmosphere.

Every House is led by a resident Housemaster or Housemistress, supported by tutors and matrons who help create a warm, family-style environment. Pupils from different year groups mix naturally, forming friendships, offering support, and mentoring one another, while many staff members bring recent Armed Forces experience to provide genuine understanding and guidance throughout their time at College. This structure helps new pupils settle quickly, especially those whose families may be posted away.

Families must be CEA eligible, and the offer applies to boarding places only.
