College’s houses offer outstanding pastoral care to day pupils and boarders alike, on a full and flexible basis, 7 days a week. Central to the successful running of the Houses, the Day Matron plays a vital part in a highly rewarding position, requiring dedication and commitment whilst providing first-class pastoral support to pupils. It is key role that helps to ensure a warm, family environment is created for the pupils in our care.

Every House is a small, close-knit community and has a distinctive character all of its own. Houses have an equal amount of year groups within it, with pupils of all ages socialising, mentoring and supporting each other throughout College life. This creates an environment that alleviates homesickness and encourages strong friendships while also fostering a deep sense of House honour and loyalty.

In conjunction with the Houseparent and other House staff, the Matron is responsible for the general welfare of the pupils within the House including providing pastoral, medical and domestic support.

Applicants should be organised, with a flexible and willing attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for dealing with young people in a close environment.

Further details of the role can be found in the job description document.

The salary will be calculated based on hours worked and a rate of £13.16 per hour. In addition, holiday pay will be accrued at a rate of £1.59 per hour with the expectation that appropriate leave will be taken outside of term time.

Benefits include:

Free membership to College’s gyms and swimming pool, inclusive lunch available during term time, Executive Pension Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, discounts with local retailers and more. More information about the benefits of working at Cheltenham College can be found here.
