Closing date for application: 08/03/2024

The Head of Cheltenham College invites applications for the post of Houseparent (HsM), starting in September 2024

The HsM of Chandos has the vital role of leading the development of the pastoral, academic, co-curricular and general wellbeing of the girls in their care.

The Role

Cheltenham College is an inspiring place to live and work and we are looking for someone to encourage and challenge the girls of Chados to achieve their very best.

We view education as something that happens in all areas of school life, not just in the classroom, therefore the HsM of Chandos needs to be able to help each individual girl in their care make the best of every opportunity afforded her. The HsM plays a vital role in ensuring that the girls who leave the house are confident, mature, civilised young people who can go on to be successful in their lives.

We have an excellent team of HsMs who work closely together, meeting regularly to share good practice as well as to iron out any difficulties. Therefore, it is crucial that the new HsM is a team player who is willing to work collaboratively with others and share College’s ethos.

The successful candidate would need to be someone who can get the very best from their team of tutors, matrons and domestic staff.

The HsM can expect to teach a reduced timetable of approximately 16 lessons per week.
