Part-Time Textiles Technician (33 weeks/Term-Time only)       

For May 2022, Cheltenham College’s Design Technology and Textiles Department seeks to appoint a part-time Textiles Technician on a term-time only basis. The hours of work will be 14 per week, plus an additional 60 hours to be worked, as required by the needs of the Department, throughout the academic year.

DT&T is a busy, energetic department housed in two buildings on the edge of the main campus, specifically converted for the department. There are two standard workshops, a hot metal area, a ‘clean’ workshop, wood prep area, two textiles classrooms, four DT classrooms and a newly repurposed exhibition space and office.

The Textiles classrooms include a CNC embroiderer and screen printing facilities, dye sublimation printer, heat press, a designated room for storage and dye preparation, large working areas across two classrooms, plus full use of the laser cutter, Adobe Illustrator and 2D Design in the shared CAD room.

The Textiles Technician supports the teachers in their lessons and works directly with students, undertakes many Textiles-specific tasks such as basic sewing machine work, printing and dyeing of fabric, laser cutting and use of CAD/CAM embroidery machines.
