Joining the friendly and supportive HR & Payroll Department, Cheltenham College seeks to appoint a Staff Development Manager.

The Staff Development Manager will report directly to the HR Director (HRD).   They will be responsible for working with departmental experts across the organisation to support the implementation of first class one to one and appraisal processes, ensure all staff have professional development plans, and source external providers both for in-person and online training provision.  This will include budget management, supplier contract negotiation and assessing return-on-investment.

This is a relatively new role within the organisation that would suit a candidate who enjoys working with, and adapting to a wide variety of different professions, styles and development requirements.  The Staff Development Manager should relish the opportunity to build on some existing good practice to shape an organisation-wide strategy to equip our people for the future.   Applicants should be flexible and adaptable and willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done.  Knowledge of independent schools would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Applicants should be skilled and sensitive communicators at all levels, quick to build professional relationships with key members of staff, including the Leadership Teams, and able to manage multiple workstreams effectively.

Benefits:

Salary range: £32,000-£38,000 dependent on existing experience (though there may be an opportunity for a less experienced candidate to join the team at a lower range and develop into the role).
